Winter Barley
Bazooka
Hybrid
Probably now the most popular hybrid barley with good Rhynchosporium resistance and highest standing power rating. Better grain quality than volume with a high specific weight and less screening loss.
Belmont
Hybrid
One of the highest yielding hybrid barley on the AHDB recommended List 2021 combined with good grain quality and strong agronomics. Performs well in all regions.
SY Kingsbarn
Hybrid
Higher yielding and higher specific weight compared to Bazooka. Joint highest yielding winter barley variety on the AHDB recommended List 2021. Stiff straw and has shown very low levels of lodging.
SY Thunderbolt
Hybrid
High yields with good all-round disease resistance, with its early maturity benefitting following crops, is new to the Recommended List
Valerie
Conventional
A high yielding two row feed barley. An early maturing variety with stiff straw. Also a good specific weight combined with a good disease resistance package. Valerie is step forward for growers that have previously had good results with Cassia nearly matching the specific weight but with extra yield potential and disease resistance.
KWS Hawking
Conventional
A high yielding two row barley. Hawking is a low risk variety, with no major weaknesses and is a natural progression from KWS Orwell. As such, it is the ideal barley for those looking for the same stiff straw as Orwell.
Bolton
Conventional
Bolton is an impressive 2-row winter feed barley that yields on comparison with most 6-row hybrids, standing exceptionally well in both treated and untreated trials. Good specific weight and Excellent net blotch resistance.
Sensation
Conventional
Sensation is the first DSV 6 row winter barley variety to be launched in the UK. It contains two very important traits – Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus (BYDV) and Barley Yellow Mosaic Virus (BaYMV) Type 1 and 2 protection. More importantly, seed treatments have no influence on these types of infection. A very high yielding variety with good straw strength and high specific weight that has performed well in treated and untreated trials – with and without virus pressure. It is very early to head and to ripen and is listed as the earliest heading variety in France. Its speed of growth in the spring also makes it particularly strong in black grass situations where it quickly outgrows emerging weeds.
