Countryside Stewardship Applications

Wild flowers 3.JPGPearce Seeds is offering a new service for the preparation and submission of Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) applications. DEFRA is encouraging farmers and landowners to join the CSS with start dates in January 2022 and 2023. The Basic Payment (BPS) will start to decline in 2021 and be phased out by 2028.

CSS applicants have been assured that there will be no penalty or disadvantage of being in a CSS when the Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELMS) are introduced from 2024 onwards.

The CSS aims to conserve and restore wildlife habitats and historical features in the landscape. Whilst at the same time reducing risk of floods and widespread water pollution from agriculture. There are different options within the scheme, to suit individual farm businesses and the opportunity to apply for capital grants.

We are able to prepare, submit and provide ongoing support as required with CSS applications. For more information please speak to your Pearce Seeds agronomist or contact:
