Red Clover Post harvest establish a legume mix, top to control blackgrass and weed growth, return to the farm rotation from the 15th August in the Legume that fixes nitrogen, rapid growth and can last up to three years, good protein feed values and high biomass yields. Buckwheat Rapid growing, can be used with OSR as a companion crop, good at scavenging phosphate in the soil, poor frost tolerance. Phacella Fast growing, will hold on to residual nitrogen and prevent leaching, beneficial to bees, hoverflies and other pollinators, good biomass, but easy to incorporate as a fine leaf structure . Black Oats A rapid growing leafy cereal crop which has early vigour with good weed suppression. Large amount of organic matter, destroy before flowering to prevent self-seeding. Brown Mustard Fast growing, good weed suppression with large biomass and bio fumigation properties that suppress soil borne pests and diseases.
