Pearce Seeds Ltd
Grass Seeds
We know that for many situations there are specific requirements for a grass ley and we are able to formulate a mixture to suit different demands. We use our experience gained from grazing preferential trials to select the best varieties on the Recommended List of the Herbage Variety Guide. Disease resistance is given priority and we only use varieties with a high score against Crown Rust.
Pearce Seeds is one of the last merchants in the South West with the ability to mix grass seed on our site.
We have access to all the top Northern European Breeders and buy all our grasses as "straights", that is they arrive as individual grasses varieties, not as mixtures, and in doing so this allows us the flexibility to tailor make a grass ley according to each farming situation.
Each individual variety is loaded onto our specialised computer system with information on Dry Matter Yield, ME, Heading Dates, and Disease resistance, with emphasis given to crown rust ratings and winter hardiness. By selecting from the recommended list of Herbage Varieties we simply buy the best material from the best breeders.
We also have eight standard grass mixtures in the Superley range, of which four have clover included.
