PEARCE SEEDS offer a DIRECT DRILLING service over a 50 mile radius of Sherborne. We have an AITCHISON Seedmatic Drill developed in New Zealand. A specially designed tine and foot opens a slot and works a tilth into which the seeds are placed. Humidity is retained and germination is rapid. It will cope with any size of seed at any seed rate using its sponge roller feed system.
We have many years experience with this machine, particularly re-invigorating old grass leys with new seed and introducing clover. We also use it for establishing game cover crops.
There is a great cost saving to be made by direct drilling compared to ploughing. Time is saved, and tractor passes reduced. Moisture loss is reduced, resulting in quicker establishment.
