Winter Wheat
Pearce Seeds have a large selection of cereal seed available. Below are some of our selected varieties.
Solstice Group 1 Milling variety with a long stiff straw. Needs a full fungicide programme.
Gallant Group 1 An early-maturing, high yielding nabim milling variety
Panorama Group 2 A stiff strawed good early driller. Will perform well as a second wheat. Excellent resistance to yellow rust.
Warrior Group 3 Excellent disease resistance, making for a good low input variety.
Invicta Group 3 Added to the recommended list for high yields. A long strawed variety.
Scout Group 3 A soft milling wheat, with excellent resistance to lodging whilts maintaining longer straw length. Scores 9 or yellow and brown rust resistance.
Viscount Group 4 Very high yields. Stiff straw with excellent resistance to both Brown and Yellow Rusts.
Alchemy Group 4 Gives high yields and although susceptible to Brown Rust, has good resistance to Septoria Tritici. A proven variety in the SW.
Exsept Group 4 Good yields, good standing, exceptional resistance to Septoria Tritici and reliability make this our most popular variety.
Gatsby Group 4 Excellent resistance to all the major foliar diseases, particularly Septoria Tritici.
JB Diego Group 4 Very high yields and a tallish stiff straw. Good Yellow Rust resistance.
Oakley Group 4 High yielding with average disease resistance. Can do well as first or second wheat crop.
Sherborne Group 4 For later drilling behind maize when the best Ear Fusarium resistance is required, this is the variety of choice.
Winter Barley
Cassata Malting Variety with resistance to barley mosaic viruses. Sti straw and good resistance to Rhynco and brown rusts but wants a robust mildew and yellow rusts strategy.
Carat Feed Variety with good yield potential and short fairly stiff straw. Resistant to Barley Mosaic Virus. Good Specific Weight.
Suzuka Feed variety whic is early maturing with stif straw and good specific weight
Winter Oats
Gerald Good specific weight, standing ability and reliability keep this old faithful going.
Winter Triticale
Bellac Straw length is closer to wheat rather than rye to give this variety excellent standing ability.
Winter Beans
Wizard High yields, standing ability and resistance to Ascochyta make this the variety of choice. Pale hilum makes it suitable for export.
Spring Crops
Spring Wheat
Paragon The only Group 1 spring wheat variety. Still very popular with growers and millers.
Spring Barley
NFC Tipple Malting variety. A popular malting variety with high yields, good standing and resistance to brackling. Good Mildew resistance but susceptible to Rhynco.
Quench Malting variety. Very high yields, stiff straw and resistant to brackling. Good resistance to Mildew and Rhynco.
Publican Malting variety. High treated & untreated yields, excellent resistance to Mildew and Rhynco.
Concerto Malting Variety. A high yielding malting variety provesionally approved by the IBD for brewing and malt distilling. Good resistance to Mildew.
Westminster Feed variety. Was a malting variety that fell out of favour with the brewers. Long straw and bold grains combined with excellent Mildew and Rhynco resistance make it of interest in the feed market.
Spring Triticale
Logo Does not require vernalisation and therefore late sowing is a possibility. High yield potential, good resistance to lodging. Ideal for either a combinable crop or for wholecrop.
Spring Beans
Fuego The top yielding variety with good standing ability and fairly good resistance to Downy Mildew. Suitable for export market.
Spring Linseed
Bilton Good yields, average Oil Content coupled with excellent Standing Ability make this the variety of choice.
Our sister company SHERBORNE PROCESSING grow the seed crops under contract, and the seed is processed through farmer owned seed plants which enables us to respond quickly for deliveries.
